The Arctic front knocking on the door of the Coastal Bend.

Latest models show the cooler temperatures to begin to filter into the Coastal Bend Region today beginning around 9am or so. Temperatures will fall quickly after frontal passage, down to the low 40s by 6pm and on down thru Saturday night with the freeze line being just to the northwest of Corpus Christi early Sunday morning.

Because of the presence of Pacific moisture, there is now an increase in freezing rain chances and coverage for Saturday night and into early Sunday morning for many areas of the Coastal Bend Region. Several watches and warnings have been posted for the Coastal Bend.

Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 3 degrees are possible. Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

With regards to Wintery Precipitation for the Coastal Bend region, the Weather Service in Corpus has indicated they will be issuing updates on this. The below link will be automatically updated with the latest on this event watches.

The coldest period of this event still looks to be between midnight Sunday night and Noon Monday when low temperatures are forecast to drop into the teens to low 20s for much of the area.

Continue preparing those outside exposed pipes. A hard freeze is likely for Sunday night and Monday night. Take this event serious.

Remember to be prepared for possible loss of power.

Near normal temperatures are forecast to return the middle of next week with minimal rain chances and highs climbing back into the 50s and lows generally in the 40s. Do not get used to the warmer temperatures though or put those jackets up.

Long range models are now indicating another bout of VERY COLD weather late next weekend with lows in the teens and low 20s. Stay Tuned....
